Driving: A current Australian (or international) driver’s
licence is required. Speed limits are 50kmh in built-up
areas and 100kmh outside cities and towns, unless
otherwise sign-posted. Tasmania has a .05 alcohol limit
for fully licensed drivers.
Shopping: Normal retail hours are approximately Mon-Fri
9 am-5.30 pm, Sat 9 am-4 pm, Sun 10 am-3 pm, however
shop hours can vary across businesses.
Banks: The majority of banks open between 9.30 am and
5 pm Mon - Fri.
Public Transport: Launceston is serviced by buses
operated by Metro. Timetable information is available by

For scheduled bus transport across the State, contact
